Social Policy and Education

The welfare of individuals is the key factor contributing to stable and prosperous democracies and advancing modern societies. Societies with comprehensive welfare regimes and adequate social policies are doing better than those that do not. Democracies with comprehensive social policies are able to confront challenges and international crises better than countries defined by unequal distribution of wealth and fragile public services, including education. Our research seeks to better understand these developments and provide actionable ideas to policymakers.

We encourage an open dialogue that aims to provide coherent and independent solutions to problems related to social policy and education in a broad sense. We aim to provide a platform for policymakers and young professionals to engage in dialogue over salient issues, to discuss differences, and expand each others views and knowledge about the best ways to confront challenges and enhance social policy and education.

Regional emphasis

We are interested in cross-national and trans-regional perspectives and solutions that go beyond the needs and problems of a single country. We believe that we can learn from best practices, failures, and models developed in different countries and seek to diffuse those lessons across the region. Our work focuses on the social policy and education in Central and Eastern Europe defined in broad terms, including the Balkans and the extended region of the Black Sea.

Policy priorities

  • Fair Representation of Stakeholders in Education;
  • Social Policy and Transportation;
  • Inclusive Social Welfare Institutions for Vulnerable Groups.
